If you’re turning up to the gym and just going through the motions, you’re leaving results on the table. At CrossFit Choice, we believe training should be intentional – every session should move you closer to your goals, whether that’s building strength, improving fitness, or just feeling better in daily life.
Why Structured Programming Leads to Better Results
One of the biggest differences between CrossFit Choice and a regular gym is the programming. We don’t just throw random workouts together – every cycle is designed to build strength, endurance, and skill over time.
- General Physical Preparedness (GPP) – Our programming makes sure you’re fit for anything life throws at you, from lifting heavy shopping bags to running up the stairs without getting out of breath.
- Strength Matters – After 30, we start losing muscle mass unless we train for it. That’s why every cycle includes strength work, because staying strong means staying capable.
- Accessory Work Helps You Improve Faster – Not everything can be fixed in a 1-hour class. That’s why we’ve introduced weekly accessory work to help you work on weaknesses and improve mobility.
How to Train with Purpose
Training with purpose doesn’t mean just showing up and working hard, it means being smart about your training, setting goals, and making sure every session is pushing you in the right direction. Here’s how we would recommend you do it:
1. Set Clear Goals
Before you step into the gym, know what you’re working towards. Ask yourself:
- Do I want to build strength?
- Do I want to improve my endurance?
- Am I working on a specific skill like double-unders or handstand push-ups?
Once you have a goal in mind, it’s easier to focus and stay consistent.
2. Track Your Progress
If you’re not tracking your lifts, times, or reps, how will you know if you’re getting better?
- Use a notebook or an app to log your workouts.
- Pay attention to weights, reps, and times, small improvements add up over time.
- Celebrate progress whether that’s hitting a PB, getting your first pull-up, or even just feeling stronger is a win.
3. Follow the Programming (and Don’t Skip the Details)
CrossFit Choice’s programming is structured and designed to help you develop over time. Stick to it!
- Don’t cherry-pick workouts. Strength, conditioning, and skill work are all important.
- If there’s accessory work programmed, do it! It’s there to support your main lifts and movements.
- Work on weaknesses – don’t just stick to what you’re already good at, otherwise how will you get better!
4. Train with Intent, Not Just Intensity
Pushing yourself is great, but mindless intensity won’t get you anywhere. Instead:
- Focus on quality movement—good form = better results, fewer injuries.
- Listen to your body—some days you need to go hard, other days it’s about recovery.
- Be consistent—you don’t have to go all-out every day, but you do have to keep showing up.
5. Stay Accountable & Train With Others
One of the biggest advantages of CrossFit vs a regular gym is the community. Use it to your advantage!
- Training with others pushes you further than training alone.
- Hold yourself accountable – commit to classes, set a schedule, and show up.
- If you struggle with motivation, bring a mate (or make some new ones).
